The Humans Behind the Dogs

Michelle Posey & Ashley Tercero

Over 40 years ago a phone line installer told a family they should get a golden retriever puppy and from that moment on the dream of Tweed retrievers was born. Michelle got her first golden in 1981, a beautiful boy named Beau from Sunshine golden retrievers. She participated in 4-H and some junior showmanship. 20 years later while watching the Westminster Kennel Club dog show with her daughter, Ashley said I want to do that and then a shared passion was sparked. Ashley got her first golden from Regency golden retrievers and competed as a junior in AKC and in obedience. Now through the years we have always had the dream of starting our own kennel and breeding for well rounded golden retrievers, those dreams kept getting pushed off as ethical breeders we hold ourselves to a high standard and our dogs did not pass certain clearances in the past or life circumstances said we were not ready until Blitz and Lennon. Both girls have passed all health testing required by the Golden Retriever Club of America.

Our dogs compete in many different venues such as conformation, obedience, rally and do both upland and retriever hunt tests. While we do these sports to prove our dogs and that we are breeding to the standard of what a golden retriever should be our dogs are also just as valued as great house dogs. All our dogs live in our homes with us, they sleep on our beds at night, we do not and will not have dogs that live in kennel runs. Our dogs are our pets first and foremost. Yes, we do have kennels on our property. Our kennels are used from time to time should we have people working in our home, work being done in the yard or need to keep a dog separate due to being in season or a maybe injury.

Understand that when you get a puppy from us you are becoming part of our family, every puppy we bring into this world will hold a piece of our hearts and we are very invested in their happiness. We want to build a relationship with our puppy homes that last the lifetime of your dog and beyond.

We hope this give you an idea of who we are and please reach out if you are interested in becoming a member of the Tweed Retriever Family.
